Project overview

Howden Insurance Group, a leading international insurance business, appointed ClearSpace Group to support the consolidation of four offices into one and subsequently develop and implement a comprehensive asset tracking process across its UK property portfolio. Following the relocation and investment in new office furniture and equipment, Howden recognised the need for greater visibility and control of its assets across multiple locations. ClearSpace was tasked with building a detailed asset tagging database using Howden's chosen asset tracking system, recording and monitoring furniture, IT equipment and other workplace assets, including desks, chairs, monitors, laptops, phones and lockers. The project covered a UK portfolio of approximately 232,000 sq. ft. of office space, supporting 2,498 employees, with 20,000 assets successfully tagged and registered at the time of the case study. ClearSpace delivered the programme to schedule, providing Howden with an accurate, centralised asset register to support insurance valuations, preventative maintenance, equipment replacement planning and lifecycle management. The system also enabled improved tracking of assets moving between offices, greater financial visibility and more informed decision-making. To maintain the accuracy of the information, ClearSpace also established an ongoing annual auditing programme, helping Howden achieve greater operational efficiency and long-term control over its workplace assets.

Client perspective

What the client said

“The ClearSpace team have stuck to schedule and their staff have acted professionally whilst on site. We are now rolling this out to our remaining UK offices. We are pleased to now have visibility of our assets across all sites allowing us to make decisions and plan actions for office equipment and assets in relation to preventative maintenance, repairs and insurance.”
